Wonderland’s Danny Stiles Gets Lipstick-ed Up for a ‘Puppet Therapy’ Prank

Given the amount of time Broadway actors spend at work, it’s no surprise that they enjoy a good joke—often at a co-worker’s expense! In celebration of April Fool’s Day, Broadway.com asked some of our favorite stars to share their funniest work-related pranks. In some cases, the stars initiated the practical joke; in others, the joke was on them. Read on for true tales of behind-the-scenes tomfoolery.

DANNY STILES (Morris the March Hare in Wonderland)

"I was playing Eddie/Dr. Scott in a regional production of The Rocky Horror Show, and in one of the first scenes between Dr. Scott and Frankenfurter (played by Eric Anderson), they get into a small, heated exchange. Eric was generally a rock about breaking, so at the midnight show of that scene, Dr. Scott magically produced a hand puppet—drawn on my left fist with eyeliner and lipstick—to communicate with FnF via 'puppet therapy.' Eric about fell off his stilettos, our Narrator spit out his scotch, and I was so tickled I believe my fake mustache started coming away from my face, thanks to my huge grin.”
